Greetings again!

I've just discovered that if I try to run MSN Messenger on one XP
machine, neither audio nor video will communicate with another XP
machine running XP Messenger this side of the firewall. Does this give
any clue about the problem?

Also .... In the MSN Messenger Tools/Options/Connection/Advanced
Connection Information it says "You are connected to the Internet
through a UPnP port restricted NAT. (Administrator)." I don't
understand the message. Does this mean that the NAT will allow audio
connections through or will not?

Sorry if I'm being thick!

Bill

Greetings Jonathan,

It's a Netgear DG834. The version without the WiFi.

I'm still trying to fault find the problem I've asked about before i.e.
that one machine will work video/audio through the router using XP
Messenger, but no other machines ever will. I'm now trying to go
through the problem as logically as possible.

Thanks,

Bill

Greetings Bill,

What type and model of router is it?

I've asked this before, but still hope that someone out there has a
similar setup and can
say whether they see the following:

I have UPnP router linking a small peer to peer network of several
XP Sp1 computers. None
of the computers is set up to be a Microsoft Internet Connection
Sharing computer.

On any of the PC's, when I look at my Internet Gateway screen and
Properties-Settings, I
get the following message:
""The Internet Connection Sharing computer is not configured to let
network users control
or disable the shared internet connection. The setting can be
changed in the Advanced
properties of the internet connection sharing computer" .

If anyone with a similar setup is able to use the XP version of
Messenger, I'd be very
grateful if they could say whether they get the same message.
