Large Hard drive support

This is actually for Windows Server 2003, but I don't see a 2003 forums to
post this in.

I'm doing a fresh OS install onto my computer, which has two HDs in it, a
120GB drive and a 160GB drive, from WD and Maxtor respectively. The system
use to have Windows 2000 with SP4 on it. Whenever I'd do a fresh install
of 2000, I'd install SP 4, followed immediately by using Max blast III to
enable the large drive support. This worked all well and good.

Well, now that I'm trying to use 2003, Max blast is refusing to install
(and subsequently enable large drive support). My bit of research has told
me that 48-bit LBA is possible under 2003, but I'm unable to figure out if
this is enabled by default or not. I'm concered that if I start to use the
160 GB drive now I'll lose all that data that I have saved on it (which
I've had happen once before and was not happy with)

Is there anything that I need to do first, or am I good to go?

Ever heard of backing your data up!!!

48Bit LBA support is not only based in Windows. You need to also know if
the BIOS will be doing 48Bit LBA before installing the large drive support.

Also, Maxtor has admitted that there were version of MaxBlast III that had
problems. They recommend using version 3.6 (or greater).

Yes, I know this. As I had previously used 2000, I'm pretty certain
that my hardware supports 48-bit LBA. The question still remains
whether I need to enable it in Windows 2003 or it it comes enabled by
default.

If the Windows Server 2003 setup program shows past 131,000MB on the
160GB drive, then it supports large drives. After installation, run
Disk Management, and if it shows all of the 160GB drive, you're all
set.
