Default MEMORY

I just recently purchased a HP Pavilion ZT3000 notebook.
I intensionally configured it with 256MB. I plan on
increasing the memory to 2GB. It has a 400mhz data
processing speed. In researching the memory purchase at
Crucial, Viking and Kingston I find three different
memory chips, PC2100, PC2700, and PC3200. A long time ago
someone told me to divide the PC number by 8 to roughly
estimate the memory bus speed. Since the bus speed
estimates are approximately 263, 338, and 400
resectively, can a 400 mhz run on either speed or should
it be matched to the bus speed? If one were to run PC2700
in a 400 mhz machine what effects will it have? Will
running slower speed memory hurt the machine? Thank you.

Default MEMORY

The motherboard sets the speed and you have to have RAM that
can run properly at that speed. PC2100 will run just fine,
so will faster rated RAM, but it will all run at PC2100
speed in your machine.
