keyboard and mouse stop working on xp password screen
Trying to help a friend out, they have a logitech wireless keyboard
and mouse, which plugs into the ps2 ports then the usb port, when the pc boots up and gets to the log on screen one of 2 things generally happens 1 - when they type in the password, as soon as they get to the last letter of the password the keyboard stops working so they can't press enter 2 - if you swirl the mouse around before using the keyboard, after a couple of swirls the cursor on the password box stops flashing and keyboard and mouse are not usable I have switched to a ps2 keyboard and mouse as well but that doesn't change anything. The keyboard does work if you enter the bios settings on boot up Also on reboot using the reset switch (only way to get the machine up again) when it runs the disk check it says the volume serial of the hard disk is 2618-dead which looks suspicious but I can't find anything on the net which points to that being a virus. All help greatly appreciated Darren |

I don't know if this is the case but generally Logitech Wireless Keyboards
are either USB or PS/2. If both connections are available typically you will have two ps/2 connectors (1 for mouse and 1 for keyboard) and 1 USB connector (works for both). You should either plug in both the ps/2 connectors or just the USB connector. Pluging all 3 will cofuse the tarntation out of your computer. Chris "unknown" wrote: Community Message Not Available |
