Desktop on secondary display
I have three PCs each with a secondary video card installed (Decklink Pro,
http://www.blackmagic-design.com/site/decklinkpro.htm). One PC has Windows XP SP1, the other two have SP2. The problem is that the PCs are used to run an application that needs to control the secondary video card, but Windows has a habit of extending the desktop onto the second display after booting. To solve this I have to go to Display Properties and uncheck the "Extend my Windows desktop..." option on the Settings tab. This seems to happen every other time the PC is booted. Does anyone know how to stop this happening permanently? Thanks in advance. Mike |

Desktop on secondary display
Thanks for that, but there are no solutions there. Most articles seem to be
about setting up dual displays, whereas I need to prevent it setting itself up... Any Windows settings or code that could do this would be great. My video card isn't listed as natively supported in this article, could that cause a problem? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q307397/ Mike "Kelly" wrote: Hi Mike, Do some reading he http://support.microsoft.com/search/...Dual+Displa y -- All the Best, Kelly (MS-MVP) Troubleshooting Windows XP http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com "Mike Batt" Mike wrote in message ... Hi Mike,
Check your BIOS setting for monitor priority (Set Primary Video Controller). -- All the Best, Kelly (MS-MVP) Troubleshooting Windows XP http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com "Mike Batt" wrote in message ... Desktop on secondary display
The BIOS settings for the primary display seem ok, the problem is that
Windows extends the desktop onto the second video card without being told to. I can't find a solution so have created a workaround application based on the code in this article http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;306399 Thanks for your suggestions anyway.
