Default Setting up wi-fi connection on peer to peer already networked?

Hi there,

I want to set up a wireless link between a computer already networked in a
cabled peer to peer configuration that has a wireless adaptor installed in
addition to the standard cabled NIC.

I have previously manually setup the two existing computers and they both
share a USB hard drive and inkjet printer connected to Comp1 (192.168.0.1)
and a laserjet connected to Comp2 (192.168.0.2)

I have installed a wireless network card in a laptop and need to configure
this to connect to the wireless adaptor in Comp2 to allow the laptop to
share the USB drive and both printers.

Do I allocate an unused IP address in the same subnet (192.168.0.3) to the
wireless adaptor in Comp2 and then an unused IP address to the laptop
(192.168.0.4) or will the wireless adaptor in Comp2 use its existing IP
address already assigned to the standard cabled NIC (192.168.0.2)?

I am guessing that if I am able to network Comp2 to the laptop then it will
be able to share the inkjet connected to Comp2 but will it then also be able
to share the inkjet and USB drive connected to Comp1 also?

Is this even possible on a peer to peer type network?

That depends... do you have a wireless router or wireless access point to
receive the wireless signal from the laptop?

Thanks for the quick reply Carey...

The computer in question is a new Compaq that comes with a fitted Wi-Fi PCI
adaptor and small aerial.

As I am not in front of the machine now I can't be more specific...sorry.

Thanks & regards,

After re-reading what you have posted, it seems you want to set up an Ad-Hoc
network.

Explained in detail he http://tinyurl.com/2zkon
