Try accessing Internet Options in Safe Mode. But Leonard is probably correct; you probably have malware. Why do you want to open Internet Options? Have you experienced other problems? |

Internet Options does not start!
I experienced the same problem earlier today.
I was removing programs using the add/remove option in Control Panel. I deleted a lot of automatic update files (there were too many of them... very sloppy Microsoft). I also deleted MSN stuff. I thought that was why I couldn't connect to the internet or access Internet option in control panel. I tried to re-install the MSN stuff. The system demanded my original Windows XP. The installation froze. Anyway I rebooted after and it still didn't work. But after a second re-boot everything was fine. Don't click on your icons too fast, give your system time to load everything first. I hope this help. "ddraigmor" wrote: HELP! I am having problems with Internet Options. Internet Options does not start!
*** UPDATE ***
Turn out I had viruses on my computer. My toolbar could not load completely, so I was unable to access my "Start" menus. Fortunately, I had a Windows Explorer shortcut on my desktop. I went into "Control Panel" and re-installed some windows components. That gave me internet access and I downloaded a free Anti-Virus program (Avast 4). The software found 33 files containing viruses on my computer. The most frustrating is that my WinPatrol program was infected by a Trojan, so it I guess it wasn't helping much. I also re-installed a newer version of WinPatrol. It's a great little program. NOTE: Scanning my hard drive for viruses took nearly 3 hours. Yeah that's slow. I should've tried custom install and perhaps tried to configure the software not to scan certain file types. Most viruses were in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory. |
