Start Menu Quuestion

I want to put a program on the first listings on the start menu for easy
access. The program already exists in 'all programs.' How do I copy or move
it so that when I click on the start menu it will show up (without going to
all programs to find it)?

right click on the name and select "Pin to start menu".
This will put the icon at the top part where it will remain for ever until
you delete it.
If you want, pin it to the taskbar.

apparently there is a limit to the number of items on the first list. Is
there a way around this?

Kinda, sorta. Right click on the Start Button | Properties | Start Menu |
Customize. I "believe" if you decrease the number of recent programs to
display, you can get that many more in the Start Menu list. Not sure,
you'll have to try it.

Right-click it and select "Pin to Start Menu".

Or to make it even more accessible, "Pin to Taskbar".

You might need administrative rights to make those choices appear;
I'm not sure about that because I run from an administrator-type
account.

Nope - you can do it in a Standard User Account.
Just out of interest, why are you running as an admin on a daily basis?

not running it as admin....Had to delete an item on the initial menu to get
the program I wanted to show up...on the bottom. I think there is a 40 irem
limit on that menu.

I don't recall the details, but a couple of years ago when I bought
my Win 7 laptop there were some discussions here that convinced me it
was much safer than doing the same thing in Win XP. I do have UAC
enabled, and pretty much anything that might have significant effect
on the system pops up an elevation request. I have antivirus running
and also do full scans weekly, and so far I've never had a virus.

You might not be aware of a big problem with your quoting style.
The way your newsreader is doing it, when someone else follows
up, it looks like you *said* what you actually only quoted.

The problem is that Windows Live Mail 2011 (version 15) has a
quoting style that is completely broken. Unfortunately that poses
a painful choice to you: either fix every quote manually, or get
a real newsreader such as Gravity, Xananews, and Forte Agent (to
mention some that come to mind at the moment). OR, if you really
want WLM, some say that WLM 14 will serve; see "SC Tom" below.

update 2011-04-02: I've seen a newsgroup posting claiming you
can un-break WLM 15 by installing and using an Autohotkey script:

I beg your pardon, but I haven't seen a decent editor in a reader in the
last 20 years! And there is a saying that if you want something done
right, do it yourself. And that is what I have been doing for the past
25 years. Just use your favorite text editor / word processor and use
macros to automate your tasks and life become so easy. And don't bother
with any reader's editor As they are not worth the bytes they take
up anyway.

P.S. This was quoted and edited in MS Word 2000 btw.
