Default SP2, start menu is now a black box??

I installed SP2 and now my start menu has a black box
over the left half where most used programs/email&IE are
and the other half...most of the options like run etc say
you need to put a link on the desktop (then the link
really does work.) I can double click programs or
settings and get a separate window menu where I can use
the links there...but the whole thing has just quit
working regularly after i have been in windows for longer
than 30 minutes...when i first boot up it does work, but
quickly degenerates.

It seems like my permissions have been separated and the
start menu can't access some of the links (just a
guess)...i am on the owner-administrator account...only
one account, and guest is turned off. I don't have a
virus, updated and checked with pc-cillin.

Start by making sure your antivirus software is up to date and run a scan on
your system. Also, make sure you have no malware on your system, download,
install and run Ad Awa

Hi,

Do a rollback on your display drivers and/or lower your hardware
acceleration.
