You can try logging on with the built-in Administrator account and going to Control Panel - User Accounts to change the password to something you'll remember. How you log on with the Administrator account depends on what version of XP you have installed on your computer. XP Home Edition To logon with the built-in Administrator account in XP Home Edition you have to restart the computer and boot into Safe Mode. To start in Safe Mode, reboot your computer and start tapping the F8 key as soon as you see anything displayed on the screen. Keep hitting F8 until the Advanced Startup Options menu appears. Use the up and down arrow keys on your keyboard to select Safe Mode. Hit Enter. Click on the Administrator icon. Unless you changed it, the password should be blank. XP Professional or Media Center Restart your computer. If the Welcome screen is displayed, hit the Ctrl + Alt + Del key combination twice. This should bring up the Log on to Windows dialog. Enter Administrator in the User Name box. If you set up a password for this account, enter it now. Otherwise, leave the password box blank. If you've change the password for the Administrator account from the default blank password, take a look here. Offline NT Password & Registry Editor http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ Ultimate Boot CD for Windows® http://www.ubcd4win.com/howto.htm As for uninstalling Client Services for Netware, go to Control Panel and double click Network Connections. In the Network Connections folder, right click a connection and select Properties from the menu. On the General page, click Client Services for Netware to highlight it. Hit the Uninstall button. Do this for each connection in the folder. Restart you computer for the changes to take effect. Good luck Nepatsfan |

need help resetting my admin pw and unstall netware
I have a similar problem in that my computer no longer shows any accounts to
signon during boot up. I have tried to boot in safe mode, but never receive the adminstrator signon option. No matter what I do I get the "to begin click user name" screen, but NO accounts are visable so I can never proceed. If I cntl-alt-delete twice, I do get a signon screen, but no combination of userid/passwords work for me. Since I can signon anyway, II am totally stuck. Any ideas? Thanks. Seems like everyone assumes that you CANNOT remove ALL ADMINSTRATOR accounts
including the "built-in" one in WinXP. WRONG. All i have is one "limited user account" and can make no changes to establish a full-privileged account. I just loaded WORKS 2000 and that may have something to do with it or there is a virus/worm going around destroying the Administrative account. I'm starting to think that the only way is to re-install Win-XP abd losing all upgrades and settings that I have made in over 3 years. If you want to help....do not suggest anything that requires going to Safe Mode or to a an Administrative account. THAT ACCOUNT IS GONE in these boot-ups. thanks "Bruce Chambers" wrote: matthewcmill wrote: Hey all- how do I reset my forgot admin pw .... The built-in Administrator account *CANNOT* be deleted. Period. All i have is one "limited user account" and can make no changes to establish a full-privileged account. That is incorrect; you still have the built-in Administrator account. I just loaded WORKS 2000 and that may have something to do with it or there is a virus/worm going around destroying the Administrative account. Yopu shouldn't even have been able to install Works without using an account with administrative privileges. If it really has been - which I suppose would be theoretically possible by directly manipulating the SAM database - your system needs to be reinstalled. Any system so messed up that the Administrator account is missing cannot be relied upon to work properly. (Note however that the account *can* be renamed, so it might not necessarily be called Administrator.) Since I've never heard of malware which deletes Administrator, and there's certainly no way for ordinary software to do so, let's make absolutely sure that's what happened first. Go to the Start Menu, select Run, type cmd and press OK. A command window should appear. Type the following command and press ENTER: net localgroup Administrators Report back the results. Harry. |

Thanks Harry ...u pointed me in the right direction...I did the Run: Cmd and
typed in the "net localgroup Administrators" it returned a name I recognized as a past account with Administator priveleges. I than booted into safe mode. When the log in screen opened with the LIMITED user account, I highlighed it and replaced it with the above name i found from the "net localgroup Administrators" CMD. When I went to CONTROL PANEL the newer account was there with full priveleges. I than added addition full-priveleged accounts. Strangely...when i re-booted to full WinXP the OLD user account re-appeared but this time as a full Adminstative account. I than RUN: MSCONFIG and did a system restore. All is now fine. Word to the wise...Have AT LEAST 2 full Admistrative accounts. And Bruce------I had Admistrative rights when I installed the Work 2000...it was after I installed it that my problem began. I have since read that Works 2000 and VISTA have a conflict Score Harry 1...Bruce 0 "Harry Johnston" wrote: antoni810 wrote: Seems like everyone assumes that you CANNOT remove ALL ADMINSTRATOR accounts including the "built-in" one in WinXP.
