This is hardly a stupid question, the guy is unsure on how to do something
and has posted a question in a support forum. If you are not interested in answering the question the don't but in my opinion you are wasting the bandwidth with your negative comments. Andy to switch off the language bar to the following. Start Control Panel Regional and Language Options Languages Tab Details Button Settings Tab Language Bar Button Untick "Show the Language Bar on the desktop". You should also make sure that you remove any languages that you do not use as these use valuble system resources. -- Greg Palmer MS-MVP Windows - Shell/User http://www.palmersoft.co.uk "David Candy" wrote in message ... Well, this must be a stupid question, too, since nothing is actually *broke* and, according to you, there wouldn't be a problem since the question regards an annoyance or preference. But how many would know to go edit the AeDebug registry key and to what value to set it? Where is the problem? According to your analysis, there would be no problem since the question has to do with a *preference*. Being curt and telling the OP to use the included Help and Support included with Windows wouldv'e been sufficient, but calling the OP stupid for asking what is a newbie question doesn't reflect negatively on the OP but instead on YOU! As far as gpalmer giving incorrect advice, why was it incorrect? The navigation is correct and it matches what "Help and Support" says and which was what YOU recommended to the OP. Since YOU think this information from the included help (and repeated by gpalmer) is incorrect then your suggestion to use the included help is what was misleading. Apparently you believe some other article within help is more relevant but were unwilling to provide the search string to focus in on whatever topic in the help you thought was correct or more appropriate. We'll just assume you are having a bad day, forgot to take your mood-stabilizing medication, your blood sugar got too low, or were going through nicotine withdrawl and really shouldn't have responded. -- __________________________________________________ _______________ ******** Post replies to newsgroup - Share with others ******** Email: lh_811newsATyahooDOTcom and append "=NEWS=" to Subject. __________________________________________________ _______________ |

Unfortunately the http://www.mvps.org/links.html lists present AND *past* awardees of the MVP title. So someone using an e-mail address at mvps.org does NOT equate to being a *current* MVP awardee. The award lasts only a year. I'm sure all alumni groups have their embarrasments. In a Google Groups search, I haven't found a message from him that included "MVP" in a signature, so he probably hasn't had that award for awhile. Looks like he got the mvps.org e-mail address around 25-12-02. A Google search on David's posts seems to indicate that he generally provides help but I have noticed some of his overly corrosive ones, too. Just chalk it up to him having a bad day. It is unfortunate that users have to go hunting around at http://www.microsoft.com/communities/MVP/MVP.mspx to see who are the *current* awardee(s) in each category rather than Microsoft providing a sorted list of awardee names. If the current awardee lists their category then it is easy to look up; otherwise, trying to qualify the status of a poster as a *current* MVP is a PITA. -- __________________________________________________ _______________ ******** Post replies to newsgroup - Share with others ******** Email: lh_811newsATyahooDOTcom and append "=NEWS=" to Subject. __________________________________________________ _______________ |

But still you are saying a complete abusive flip has the right to waste other's time here. This really amazes me that abusive, thieving, scum have some right to be that way. Perhaps you have a history with Andy that the rest of us are unaware. A Google search by his moniker doesn't show any posts since about 1995. When reading the chart regarding what is abusive, please don't read it from a mirror which would reverse the chart. I saw nothing abusive in the OP's post, only in your posts. It reminded me of trying to talk with Alan Connor, a known kook (well, known to me after trying to communicate with him; see http://angel.1jh.com/nanae/kooks/alanconnor.shtml), who becomes severely abusive if you ask him about his product or question his viewpoint. I don't see cause why the OP couldn't post their preference to eliminate something in a feature of Windows (which I don't use, by the way). After all, the OP did post in the *.newusers group. Are you saying that Microsoft thrusts the MVP award upon anyone simply based on their participation in the microsoft.* newsgroups without the consent of the awardee? If you want no association with the Microsoft MVP program then why do you infer your participation or membership, past or present, by the use of an mvps.org e-mail address? Have you informed mvps.org of your position regarding the MVP program so they can delete your e-mail account with them and remove from their site the link to your site? -- __________________________________________________ _______________ ******** Post replies to newsgroup - Share with others ******** Email: lh_811newsATyahooDOTcom and append "=NEWS=" to Subject. __________________________________________________ _______________ |
