Win10 pro, Acrobat XIpro, Acrobat Reader.
"Acrobat failed to send a DDE command". Suddenly I get this message when I try to start Acrobat, either directly or from a file. Is there any fix? Peter |

Acrobat failed to send a DDE command You need to launch acrobat in safe mode by doing something like this: 1) Press and hold down *shift* and *double click* the *acrobat icon* and then open a pdf file. 2)If it opens without crashing then you know you have a faulty plug in. When you have established that you have a defective pluin, you need to locate it and remove it from your installed plug-ins folder. You will need to post on Adobe forums to ask them how to uninstall a defective plugin. https://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat Good luck. |

I'll have to reinstall some small programs and I'll watch them carefully. God bless System Restore! |

It's one of the very first things I disable on each new PC, along with UAC and a few other things. |

If I disable the UAC, does this give me ground-level administrator privileges; that is does everything then open "as administrator"? |

No, it mostly just stops the nags that everyone blindly clicks through. Oh, it also lets you store files in the root of C:\, in case that's important to you. |

Don't disable it though; UAC is one of the smartest things Microsoft added to Windows in years. I'd force people to enter their full password rather than just press OK myself, but it'll do. At least a person is alerted to the fact that something is requesting Administrative access before clicking OK. -- A.M |
