Why Linux Sucks
It is ugly out of the box

Linux has been largely used in the server scenario, yet there are many
deluded morons out there who think it can compete against both Windows
and Mac OS when it com,es to desktop usage. If you have ever used
Linux, you know what I?m talking about:

how about you try to find a working news reader, the one you've got is
embeddign control characters, probably some sort of windows font bug.

^^^^^^^^
How about you find a news reader with a working spell checker.
What's the matter, doesn't the nano editor automatically correct
spelling errors?
Last time I looked, it highlighted errors but didn't actually offer
suggestions for correction.
How useless is that?

Another Linux fail.

seen, at least recently.

You should hire snit to perform a complete redesign. He is actually

Default Why Linux Sucks- 2020 Version

I have about 10 machines with Windows 10, 7, XP (2 are VMs on VMWare
Player) in my dental office and at home.

Since a few weeks I have Linux, MX 19, in a VM (Windows host, VMWare
Player). MX 19 leads at Distrowatch:
https://distrowatch.com/?language=DE

I installed xrdp (terminal server) in it and my assistants can use it
as a safe internet surfstation over MS-RDP. (They can`t use any web
browser directly on Windows any more - too insecure). The clipboard
even supports copying files. Has only little problems, see below.

I was so satisfied with MX 19 that I installed it onto a Chuwi Hi13
(high DPI panel with 6 MP) side by side to a Windows 10.

MX 19 ist more than double as fast when booting than Win 10 on this
machine. It feels much punchier than Win 10. Remmina as the RDP-Client
does a much better job translating between the 3000*2000 display and
the display resolution of my Windows terminal server (1920*1200
pixel). With MS-RDP this was a mess, almost unusable. Now I will take
the little "laptop" (tablet plus keyboar) with me onto holidays, as a
RDP-Client within my private VPN. But MX 19 would be unusable if the
Chuwi Hi19 had to work as a tablet (without keyboard). Then Win 10
would be the only solution.

As as OS for special purposes MX 19 or any Linux is great. But not so
great for a power user with a lot of different (Windows) software
difficult to replace on Linux.

Windows in itselt is much more polished and coherent than any of the
about 10-15 Linux distributions I tested the last 15 years.

But our children are growing up (besides Android) with Cloudready or
the original Chrome OS (Chromebox, Chromebook). Much simpler, faster,
safer and hassle free compared to Linux or Windows. They don`t install
local programs but use web apps. Google Docs, Gmail and Quire
(https://quire.io/) can replace easily MS Office and Outlook for 90%
of users, I assume.

M.

Surely, you don't want to hang out with Windows users who have some sort

The funny part is he is using slrn which is a throwback to the 1970's
and a DEC VT100 terminal.
Every option, including colors, are controlled by a text configuration
file .slrnrc.

Guess what. I find article navigation clunky and slow with GUI
newsreader ... with keyboard I am much faster and don't waste time on
clicks...

So if you want to change the color of the text for example you need to
edit the file and add something like CYAN to it, then save, restart
slrn, rinse and repeat 100 times until you find a combination you
like.

So what? How many times you change color of text?

Also slrn needs a helper application like slrnpull or leafnode to read
offline. Otherwise it downloads one article at a time as you read
them.

That's much better with broadband internet.

Very slow, especially considering it's a cli application.

Bull****.

Linux worshipers wear slrn like some badge of intelligence because
they were able to configure and use it.
Doesn't matter that it's a God awful program still left in the 70's,
the complexity, especially when coupled with the editor vi or emacs
makes them feel superior.

Guess what, with vim and slrn I am much faster.

It's one reason why Linux users are considered dysfunctional. There
are many more of course but we can leave that for another day.

Personal attacks from those who troll show their own insecurity. They
cannot use reason to show the message to be wrong so they try to feel
somehow superior by attacking the messenger.

They cling to their attacks and ignore the message time and time again.
