Built-in memory: 16326.8 MB Real memory available to Lightroom: 16326.8 MB Real memory used by Lightroom: 897.6 MB (5.4%) -- 5.4%, not 50% Virtual memory used by Lightroom: 966.4 MB How is 897.6 *MB* considered half of 16 *GB* of system RAM? Lightroom is using under 1 GB from 16 GB available. That's under 1/16, or 6.25%, not 50% (half). From the above Help information: 897.6 MB / 16,326.8 MB = 0.0549, or 5.49%. That's one-ninth of your claim of 50% memory usage. They even tell you in the Help info that Lightroom is using 5.4% of your system RAM. Just how did YOU compute a 50% memory footprint? For Lightroom at 897.6 MB to be using half of your system RAM means you would only have 1.785.2 MB (or ~1.8GB) of system RAM but the Help info clearly shows you have 16 *GB* of system RAM. |

Well I just glanced and saw the 897 and jumped to the thought 'Goodness that is almost half of 16326 and the software is just sitting' So I didn't 'think' it through plus sending the mail to the wrong address made a complete 'bloop!' Adobe just did an update and their words included that the improvements would be seen or require a machine with minimum 12 Ram. My friend has 8 so he was wondering if his laptop would continue to handle the Lightroom software. I use a desktop but I do have a laptop and the current Adobe Lightroom does not run well on it so it is not installed there. Its a 6Gb ram and slow HDD. I have been considering an SSD into this laptop but its not high on the list of things to do. Rose |
