WLE 2011 Update
Two weeks ago I let this computer install a Windows Live Essentials update
that came in on automatic updates. Since then, WLM has crashed three times when pressing Send to groups or email. Most times pressing Send causes no problems. Looks like it has something to do with the Spell Checker. I am running Word 2000 (9.0.2720) which I think is still the original install from the original Office 2000 CD's, not updated. I'm not having any problems with any of the programs in Office. The WLE update is listed in Control Panel in the programs list (un-installable). Anybody know what's going on? Would it be safe to un-install the update? jim This error report was generated: ================================= 04 May 2012 00:30:09 Version: 15.4.3555.308 OS Version: Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Runtime version: 2.0.50727.5448 Shutdown started: False Program: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe" Memory Load: 59% Total Physical: 2815 MB Available Physical: 1137 MB Total Page File: 5628 MB Available Page File: 3423 MB Total Virtual: 2047 MB Available Virtual: 1065 MB Available Extented Virtual: 0 MB Unexpected Error Occurred An unexpected error has occurred within the application. From what I can remember it said "Windows Live Essentials 2011 has an important update. Do you wish to install it?" or something like that. I said yes, and the installation went flawlessly, and a restart of Live Mail was needed on completion. The entry in Help About is at the end of this post. The problems started the following day, and so far the crashes have occurred when posting to Usenet (once), sending an email (once) and then last night when sending to Usenet (once). This has never happened before in the 18 months I've had this computer. Strangely, although the program crashes immediately on pressing the Send button, the send is executed and received at the other end with no problems or mistakes. Puzzling, and starting to become nuisance. jim =============================== Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3555.0308) Copyright © 2010 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. WLE 2011 Update
Thanks ...winston. I've done as you suggested and run the repair on WLE
2011. Seemed to go through alright, asked me restart Windows at the end of it, and it wouldn't! Had to restart from the Start menu, and everything appears to be OK. Will post back to this thread if anything goes wrong. Thanks again. jim |
