I just noticed that this was reported on Jun 1, 2015.
So, consider this a dead project

Last commit was a fortnight ago, so it's just that the developer's
priorities don't align with yours ...

If you can't right click, it is useless.

You can right click if you set it to run as administrator. I assume the
Windows file explorer has those rights built in.

On the other hand, I quit using Explorer++ when I realized I couldn't drag
and drop files from the desktop to an open Explorer++ window.

I don't have any problem dragging and dropping files from the desktop to an
open Explorer++ window, using version 1.4.0.110 (32-bit) on a Windows 7 SP1
machine.

Also, no problem with right clicking; even when not running as
administrator.

John

The machines I tried it on were all Windows 10 machines

I'm on Win10 also and using the 64bit version. I didn't mind setting it in
compatibility to run as administrator to stop the right click bug. Not
being able to drag and drop files from the desktop to an open Explorer++ was
a deal breaker for me.

Sorry, missed this thread when it first came out because of the "OT" (it
was ignored by my filters.)

I did say earlier that I had not mentioned Explorer++ as a replacement
because it was buggy ;-) It is long abandoned and a quick look at the
settings file (which has plenty of mistakes) is enough to see that it is
nowhere near ready for every day use.

Explorer++ homepage is he https://explorerplusplus.com/
The Support Forum is he https://explorerplusplus.com/forum/index.php

PS: You can grab newer compiles of the EXE from the Forum...

Best Regards,

The homepage lists 1.3.5 including x64 which I'm using, the forum lists
"1.3.1 now available".

I haven't had any problems with 1.3.5.

I also installed QT TabBar on MS File Explorer, middle click on a folder
to explore it in a new tab, middle click on the tab to close it. Works
perfectly, super-convenient. I don't have the same frustrations w/MS
explorer the OP did, so far QT Tabs has made it easy to like.

Maybe not but if you look at the help/about info for that build, the last
build date shows 2013. Not exactly current.

As soon as I realized I couldn't drag and drop files from my desktop to
Explorer++, that was it for me. I'm on Win10 64bit and had the 1.35, 64bit
version of Explorer++

Why not try version 1.4.0.110 (3 February 2018) and see if it's been 'fixed'
yet.

I've found it to be OK but, as I mentioned in an earlier post, I'm running
it on a Windows 7 32-bit machine. YMMV.

Interesting. I just tried it. You have to run it as administrator to get
options like replacing file explorer to work. At the same time you have to
have "run as administrator" turned off in compatibility mode to get the drag
and drop to work.
