Default 1394 probelms with my TRV38

Firewire isn't user friendly. There are too many things
that could go wrong. The cable could be damaged, the
port may have burned out. Did you try jiggling the cable
in both ends? I've had trouble with a USB scanner that
only worked with jiggling the cable in both ports. Is a
ping noise supposed to happen when you plug it in?

I have windows XP Professional, An Asus motherboard
A7V333 with onboard firewire card, as well as an
additional firewire card onboard my Soublaster Audigy
Sound card. My TRV38 (dig camcorder) was picked up fine
originally by the OS, but now is not recognized at all.
I've tried other fire wire devices that seem to have no
probelms at all. I"ve restarted several times, tried
different cables, even uninstalled both cards from

device
manager and let them get reinstalled and none of this

has
seemed to help. Any and all help would be appreciated!!!
