Default Hardware Compatability program

Can anyone tell me the name of the program you run to check the hardware
compatibility on a Win XP machine. I've used it before but can't remember
the name

Ok I found the program on the original cd that came with my Dell I5100.
It has the program on it but won't run since I updated to SP2. It just says
it can't continue cus the version of windows is newer than the one on the
disk

That is more than likely the Windows XP installer and not he hardware
compatibility checker.

You can uninstall SP2 and use the old disk, Dell can
probably supply you with a new CD with SP2, or you can
slipstream the OS and SP2 to make your own up to date CD.
