Youre out-of-luck with that, microsoft specifically says "only one user per
copy of xp",no transfering software ownership....

This is a load of crap...

To the OP, you will need to find someone who has a similar computer to
yours and borrow their XP Home CD to install on your computer.

If you have a used Dell, you can try and get Dell to change the
registered user to you then buy an install CD for $5 from them for the
machine. The Dell CD only works with "genuine Dell computers" and they
only provide the install disc, not a serial number.

First: Record the model number of your PC. Also note the "Service Tag" number on the case.
Second: Phone Dell Sales (in the USA that number is 1-800-999-3355). You may have to use the
Internet to find a number if your are not in the USA.
Third: Ask to purchase a Set of Restore Disks for your Model PC. (Expect to pay approximately $40
USD)

After your receive the disks.
Start the computer and Press F2 to get into setup.
Make sure the computer "boot sequence is set to use the CD drive before the hard drive"
Put the "System Disk" in the CD drive and then "restart" the computer.
Follow the screen instruction for Installing Windows.
After windows is up and running, put the "Drivers and Utilities" disk in the computer.
Allow this disk to setup and then install all of the drivers checked, one at a time.
You may have to reboot several time before all the drivers are installed.

Basically it is a used p-iii computer with microsoft certificate of
authenticity tag which shows the product key anf there is another num ber but
it does not read that it is service tag and I am myself not sure because I do
not see anything which mention it is a service tag. It is just a seven degits
alphanumeric number.
