Cropping 50 images to the same bottom left corner

If the composition of the shot is not changing, then Irfanview itself has a batch processor with crop capability. The screen was not changing so I only needed to snap shot a given area. The quality of the snap shots was not a concern. The only concern was that it be the same given rectangular bounding box. I first tried to calculate the given rectangular area with Irfanview ^Options -- Capture Screenshot -- 7) Fixed Screen Rectangle^ but it is almost impossible to fill out those numbers accurately. x-pos, y-pos, width, height They seem simple but if you haven't tried it first you won't realize how hard it is to get those numbers correct. I guess that is because we never think about actual pixel numbers on a screen. What saved the day was that the 50 photos were of the entire screen. The Irfanview ^File -- Batch Conversion/Rename -- Use advanced options for bulk resize -- Advanced -- Crop^ section was different. That crop section has a button called ^Get current selection^ which is whited out unless you have an image underneath that has a crop selection area defined. Even though I was familiar with Irfanview, unless all the conditions are met that you can't do it on initial screenshot and you can't do it on an image that doesn't have a crop area already selected, that ^Get current selection^ doesn't work. It was only because ^Paul in Houston TX^ said it worked that I kept trying until I had the right conditions for it to work. Otherwise the calculation to get the 4 numbers exactly correct is too hard and therefore offputting. |
