Shutdown not 100% complete

Hi PC Enthusiasts,
To put a shutdown icon on your desktop, right-click on your desktop and =
choose New, Shortcut. In the command line type =
c:\windows\system32\shutdown.exe -s -t 0

Click Next and then click Finish. You can now double-click this icon to =
shut down your computer, without going to the Start menu.

The above trick works for WinXP BUT could I have more shutdown power?
I want the machine will completely shut itself for me --- no need to =
press the power switch.
This happened to my machine: After clicking Shutdown Icon, Windows XP =
logo appear and it says "It is now safe to turn off your Computer". Why =
the computer stop half way?Why give back command order to human master? =
Will it be possible to grand my special request? =20

If your system uses Advanced Power Management, this problem is usually
caused by APM systems on which XP is installed because APM (Advanced Power
Management) is not enabled by default in XP.

Right click a blank space on your desktop, select properties, go to the
Screen Saver tab and click the Power button under Monitor power. Go to the
APM tab and select "Enable Advanced Power Management support."

If you see no such tab, go to Start and right click My Computer, select
Properties, go to the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button under
Device Manager.

In device manager, select the View menu, and turn on show hidden devices.
In the device manager window, you will now see an entry for NT Apm/Legacy
Support (If you see no such entry, skip to the bottom of this message and
try the suggested link), expand it, and bring up the properties for the
node.
In the device usage drop down list, select Use this device (enable)
Hit the OK button and then close the device manger.
You may need to reboot, but now it should shut your computer completely off
on shutdown.

I'm not familiar with your specific PC so I don't know if it uses APM but if
it does, that is the likely culprit since, as I said, it is disabled by
default in XP. Asuuming XP did not come with your system, then the above is
certainly a possibility.

As to where things are or why you aren't seeing them, first you need to be
in an administrator account. Second, if you are not seeing what I describe,
it's possible Sony has some proprietary interface of which I'm not aware or
familiar as "Monitor Power" should located in the bottom section of the
Screen Saver tab.

Not knowing your setup, I'm at a loss to help any further and you have done
what I would have suggested and that is contact Sony.

Please don't. We have people from all over the world viewing these boards,
many on dialup paying per minute charges and they wouldn't appreciate it.

As I said previously, you should now take this up with Sony tech support.
you are more than welcome to give them the information I've posted about
APM, although, if your system does not use APM and, given that the tab
doesn't appear that is likely the case, the only other thing I can offer is
