Default Start Sound - Need Help

After being off over night, on start up my PC emits a sound for a
couple of seconds, and then works normally for the remainder of the
day. Sound is somewhat ominous.

Need someone knowledgeable to take a listen to the MP3 and make
recommendations and thanks.

Email if you'd like to help.

You can find a site to share small sound samples.

Here's my first project. We'll see how long this lasts.

That sounds excellent. Give it to Ed Sheeran or Vangelis and they'd
forge it into multi-bucks.

As Paul said, it would be easier if you just post
the sound online somewhere.

One thought: Is the room cold? I like to keep
the house cool and I've had computers that
make noise when cold. I think with one it was
the fan on the graphics card. The clearance is
apparently so small that slight shrinkage of the
plastic from cold is enough to make the blade
scrape until it warms up.
You can check the source by taking the
side off during startup.

6 year old Dell XPS(something) desktop has never been openned. There
is no removeable side panel. The case looks like it might be removed
toward the rear, but it would be very difficult.

I used to open everything for a good blow-out about once a year but
not this one.

Thanks for responding ...

Very, very unlikely. I have 2 XPSs here. A
410 and a 625. I think both have a quick
release "trigger" on top. I've never seen
a computer that didn't come open with
a maximum of 2 screws. Either the side
across from the motherboard comes off or
there are 3 sides in one piece and the
whole top comes off. (Typical with
horizontal cases.)

I have worked on a few older dells where the top and sides where one
piece, a couple screws at the back and the whole thing slid off towards
the back, And where they tight, pretty near needed a pry bar to get them
moving.

You don't remember various AT machines? Many of them didn't have a side
panel. You had to release four to six screws and the whole outer cover
came off, exposing the chassis and internal components.

As Paul said, it would be easier if you just post
the sound online somewhere.

Don't want to get involved with all that. I just want to attach the
very small MP3 to an Email or something.

One thought: Is the room cold?

No, rooom's not cold. Sound is just about a couple of seconds and
obviously isn't going away because something warms up.
