Default Cannot access a user folder under the Documents and Settings Directory on XP hom

After having to reinstall Windows XP, I am no longer able
to access my old usewr folder anymore.(I need to get my
old documents back)
The new install created a new administrative folder a
long with a guess folder. I can access them no problems
but cannot access the original folder. When I try I get
an access denied message.
I have tryied changing the attributes (Access denied)
I have tried to access the folder under safe mode (Access
Denied)
