Chrome Alternatives?
I've had it with the maddening "App Shelf" that Google has pushed down
to Windows users. No relief in sight for Desktop users so far as I can see. My problem with migration to another browser is my extensive Chrome bookmarks collection - which I use under both Windows and Android. Can anybody aim me at an unbundled bookmark manager that I could use under both systems? My kneejerk says "Xmarks". Looks like they claim to run under Android, but I don't know about importing from Chrome. Has anybody been here? Firefox as a browser? -- Pete Cresswell |

My only input is: I found a great program (or usable at least) called Transmute. It moves bookmarks from browser to browser. Free. IIRC there is a paid version. The free version just wipes out the old bookmarks. I use it now and then to copy Chrome to IE, Just in case I'm using IE and want that bookmark. I only do it like every 4 months or so. |

Firefox as a browser? Firefox is a browser. I just love the ability to block advertising. The only problem I have with Firefox is that it doesn't do my dark color scheme perfectly. But it might be better than any other browser at that. According to Mozilla... "Firefox lets you easily import bookmarks and other data from Google Chrome" |

I would guess that any advantage would surface when using the Metro desktop, which I do not. -- Pete Cresswell |

Click on the 3 horizontal bars in the upper right hand corner you will see "Relaunch Chrome on the desktop" if it is running in Win 8 mode. I never use Win 8 mode and didn't even know about the "App Shelf" until your post. |
