Laptop Touch Pad
I have a recent HP Envy laptop, with a Synaptics SMBus Touchpad (Win
10). I have never encountered a more frustrating device. I have no interest in three finger scrolling, Smart sense and a plethora of other options. I want to use that Touch pad akin to a simple mouse. I have disabled most of the set-up options, and I am still far from "happy". The most annoying touch pad response is that nearly every time I toch that *&^%?? pad, a pop up menu appears. I do NOT want any pop up menus, ever. Can someone suggest how I can change the propertes for that damn pad, so that it will react akin to a standard mouse. I should add that using an external USB mouse would not be convenient. Sure would appreciate any suggestions -dave |

Have you tried changing any of the settings using the Pointing Device Properties (either in the Control Panel or on the Taskbar)? You should be able to disable the scrolling functions there. -- Best regards, Neil |

There are no settings associated with the misbehavior that I'm dealing with. I also haven't seen any popup menus that are unrelated to things like right-clicks and such. -- Best regards, Neil |

I have tried, maybe three times, to restart from a "factory reset". I have since disabled all pad options, less the seemingly Needed Clicking option. Neil, might i impose on you ? Could you post your relevant pad settngs, that you are successfully using.? I sorta doubt that my performance issue is related to my using Win 10 v your 8 OS? I have never been more frustrated, than with that da*&* Touchpad!!! |

Sure... from the "Mouse Properties" control (Synaptics Pointing Device icon - Properties), go to the Device Settings tab, then click the "Settings" button. This brings up a list of options, such as your "two finger scroll", "pinch zoom" etc. De-Select what you don't want. HTH. -- Best regards, Neil |
