Default flash drive or usb port

I have an HP 4gb flash drive. It works fine on my computer at home but when i
take it to work, the computer recognizes it but i can't open it or anything.
all i can do is safely remove it.
I checked the usb port and it says it works fine

The problem would be "centered" on the PC at work. It is possible
that this PC has been set up to "refuse" access to "external" drives
such as USB flash drive. You will need to consult with the person
(s) / department / company whom are in charge of managing the office
computers. They might have a company "usage" policy which does not
allow the use of USB drives.

If you can write to the registry ... run "regedit" and ...

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\USBSTOR]
"Start"=dword:00000004

.... change the "4" to an "3".
