Windows Messenger 4.7 No outgoing video...almost there!!!
I recently built my girlfriend a pc and tested out Windows Messenger
(4.7) and it worked great (of course, it was tested on my home network). To my surprise, it didn't work once we hooked it up at her house. This is where I'm at now: Girlfriend's PC (p4 2.66ghz, 512mb, etc.) Connection: 56K Modem with a dial-up accelerator installed Windows XP Pro Windows Messenger 4.7.xxx Vibra (creative) usb webcam, microphone, etc. My Computer, p4, etc. Connection: Broadband, SMC 2404WBR gateway/router (with UPnP firmware upgrade) Windows XP Home Windows Messenger 4.7.xxx IBM webcam, microphone, etc. I've enabled UPnP, Firewall with DMZ, as well as enabled some opened ports (I really don't know how to do this part), and the results are 99% okay. IM works 100% Voice communications work 100% Video conference works 50% (I can see her, she can't see me) Her video feed is okay on her end and is received on my pc. My webcam feed seems to be faulty. Should I reinstall WM4.7 and recalibrate my webcam? I can't seem to find any FAQ's on my situation (where one feed works, but the other doesn't). Thanxs for any advice any one can leave me. george |
