Default LSASS.EXE & SAMLIB.DLL error

When I reboot my computer I get the following error
"lsass.exe - Unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because SAMLIB.dll
was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this
problem."
This error shows up after xp (pro) shows its loading
screen, after I press ok to the error I just get a blank
screen and then I have to manually power down my computer.
I can not get to safe mode or dos mode. If this is the
sasser virus, how would I go about using the fix? Also I
never installed service pack 1, because I know that was an
issue with that update. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

First off, I don't know what "issue" you heard of in regards to SP1, but you
should most definitely install it. Second of all, if you are connecting
without a firewall and up to date antivirus installed, you WILL get hit by
the latest variation of the SASSER worm.
