Who knows what goes on when that special filter is applied but I have
never seen Lightroom slow down such as it did through the image
processing today.
The screen would go blank as I switched from process to process.
Click to use the crop tool and it was a blank screen for 2 or 3 seconds
or more.
Not impressed at any rate....AND.....
I didn't see any great difference applying a luminance filter to reduce
highlights.
Not worth the slow down at any rate.

Please stop using it and if you have any complaints to make then find a
Newsgroup or Forum where this can be done. This is not the place to cry
about something that nobody is likely to be using.

Have you stopped taking your daily meds?

Use the latest version of Windows 10 (1709).

Use Task Manager.

Examine the GPU utilization graph.

Task Manager is there, to show you how your
computer resources are being used.

The GPU Utilization is a new feature. It requires the 1709 update,
plus a newer WDDM driver for the video card or GPU. All my video
cards are out-of-support, so I cannot test this feature.

If you've never used Task Manager before...

Obviously, Lightroom is a bundle of joy.

First issue: My post was supposed to go to a private individual and
somehow I sent it into this newsgroup. We were discussing the current
Lightroom version upgrade which added a Range Mask filter.
I think this filter slows down the Lightroom develop process but others
in the Lightroom.net forum have the opinion its a memory leak.
Certainly the product promotion group have caused folks to look for
alternatives and it all stemmed from a revised product label.
There has been no mention of the GPU utilization feature for the
current Lightroom version. Previously turning off the Acceleration in
the video settings was a common statement.
Thanks for your input.
Rose
