Default Upgrade to Windows 10 Today Because Tomorrow’s the End of the World

"Now, we’re not going to discuss the reasons that will trigger the
apocalypse, although most people seem to believe that the polar flip
will happen on Friday (others claim that we’ll be invaded by aliens or
demons who’ll eat our hearts out, but it doesn’t even matter, it’s the
apocalypse, we don’t have time to discuss such things), but here’s one
last thing that you could do before the end of the world: upgrade to
Windows 10."

Because of the very poor and unexpectedly low uptake of 10, one way or
another, the "deadline" will get extended. Just watch ...

I've been saying that from the start of the "free offer". However, I
don't know at this point. We'll find out in the next few days though.

PS. I've also been saying that I'd rather eat dirt than "upgrade" to
Windows 10.

I bought a cheapo dual core computer with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on it
with the thought that I would do the Windows 10 deal, fool around with
it a bit and then go back to Windows 7. However, at this point I've kind
of upgraded the computer hardware-wise (put in two 500gb hard drives,
swapped out the DVD-ROM with a really-for-real lightscribe DVD burner)
and have tweaked the W7 OS a bunch. I really don't want to risk hosing
it, am too lazy to do an image, check out Windows 10 and then put the
image back on. Also, I still have the fully functional (but very
high-mileage) 250gb hard drive which I can use to experiment with Linux on.

Nadella does some spin-doctoring:

Yeah, right.

One pluspoint if the world ends tomorrow: it will put an end to
that acronym "TGIF".

Cue the jokes about if the world ends, Microsoft will not have to
fix Windows.

"They go in front"?
And the relevance would be?

"Thank God [or Goodness] It's Friday" was the expansion I was
thinking of.

The TimeZone for 29th July refers to the last place on this planet which
gets this date. this means it is any place where the time is: (UTC
-11). In UK this means it is 11:00AM on Saturday 30th July 2016 (or
10:00AM if you are still using UTC +0000).

One thing I have found is that Windows 10 hasn't got the correct
TimeZone for London:

I would have expected UTC +01:00 somewhere for Dublin, Edinburgh,
London, Lisbon as it was in 7 and 8.1. this makes calculations
difficult and one website gives me incorrect time as shown in this pictu

The time shown in Red Box should be 21:09 but it is not. I have checked
the server settings and it is correct.

Always has been in the past.

Hah!

Yep, the last extension was Dec 23, 2012. We should be
good for now.
