Interesting read. http://windowssecrets.com/top-story/thirty-day-win10-experiment-lasts-only-a-week/ That is similar to my experience with Windows 10. The install went great and I was quite pleased with the interface though different from the Windows 8.1 desktop. After running it for several days things started to go wrong. Opening programs would freeze the system. Initially a simple program like Notepad. Eventually that started working again, but I never could get passed the freeze up with my word processor. I decided to roll back to Windows 8.1, I am still working to get that back to where it was before Windows 10. That was about 10 days ago. |

Inferences based on reports thus far: No 3rd party tablets, no PCs/laptops/printers/etc older than mid-2013 or thereabouts, no devices optimised for Win 8/8.1 or earlier. That cuts out a very large proportion of current technology. Anyone taking bets on the release date of Windows 10.1? Hah! Have a good day, I have an Acer tablet that I bought in 2012, and it runs Win10Pro x64 better than it ran Win8.1Pro x64 (it came with Win7 Pro x64 installed). My HP printer (at least 2 years old) works fine, too, with all of its functions working as well as they do in Win7. I thought in the beginning that one of the big selling points of Win10 was that it would be compatible with older hardware. What it will be in the future, who knows? Microsoft may decide that you need the latest and greatest to continue receiving OS updates. I guess that's their right, but it will sure **** off a lot of users, myself included. -- SC Tom |
