and I guess
basing your personal data primarily on local files is pretty much old-
school.Â* If you use one of the major cloud services (hotmail, gmail)
then you'll likely find more problems are already solved for you.

Yep. I used to have a rather convoluted system via thunderbird +
lightning
+ gcal plugin to access my Google calendar and a manual import to
outlook.

Now I use outlook and office365 for work, and Google calendar for
everything else. It's just easier to embrace the cloud

I've used tkremind since 1994.Â* It's my diary.Â* I don't see how I can
convert the data to something more modern without a lot of typing.Â* I
keep future appointments in Jorte so I can see them on my phone as a
practical matter, but I don' t really like the format.Â* And I have a
paper pocket calendar too.

Dinosaurs R Us.

Have you tried signing into your gmail account with the Chrome browser
on a PC and bring up the calendar?

Also I use a program Outlook4Gmail to sync the two calendars.

I use Jorte on phone, Kindle and two laptops (one at home, the 11" as a mobile
super tablet); SWMBO, who has phone and desktop, won't upgrade from a paper
diary.

It looks OK now (I like month-at-a-glance format, which I don't believe
was available when I last looked years ago), but I don't want to make
stuff -- like my or my friends' birthdays, anniversaries, etc. -- as
public as I believe letting google store the information to be.

Also I use a program Outlook4Gmail to sync the two calendars.

It's easier to write stuff on paper and then type it on a REAL keyboard
when I get home than it is to use a virtual keyboard.
