In Thunderbird when I try to access it opens up a gmail dialog but clicking on anything there does nothing. On Win XP Pro laptop. Thunderbird newsgroup is usually useless so I come to the gurus here. Thanks ! If you have protected your Thunderbird passwords with a master password, you will have to enter that master password at some point in the following. 1. On the Thunderbird menu bar, select [Tools Options]. 2. On the Options window, select [Security Passwords]. 3. On the Passwords pane, select the Saved Passwords button. 4. On the Saved Logins window, select the Show Passwords button and select the Yes button on the confirmation popup. 5. On the Saved Logins window, right-click on the mailbox entry for E-mail account and select Edit Password from the pull-down context menu. 6. Enter you new password. 7. Repeats steps #5 and #6 for the smtp entry for the E-mail account. 8. On the Saved Logins window, select the Close button. 9. On the Options window, select the OK button. -- David E. Thanks ! You *should* be able to enter the new password when Thunderbird requests it during the next 'pull'/send of mail. But in my experience, that method often fails in non-obvious ways, so I prefer to manually change the password in the 'Saved Logins' window: Tools - Options - 'Security' tab - 'Passwords' tab - Saved Passwords... - full screen window - Show Passwords - Yes Now find the 'Site' entries (probably two, one for POP or IMAP and one for SMTP) for the account ('User name' column) in question. Right-click the old password - Edit Password to change the password. Elementary, dear Watson! :-) |
