Default Website printing new problem

All of a sudden I can't seem to print any web side. I've tried half a dozen
or more different ones and they _all_ add material that overprints to the
top of every page printed. Every web site adds its own material. Stuff like
"managing downloads", Lock/Unlock your screen", "Wireless and Networks" and
other site specific general info. This material doesn't show in Firefox's
page print preview.

Of course this ruins the printouts. Did I turn something on in Firefox?
Google is pretty useless if I can't print any search results.

Help!

TIA

There's supposed to be a setting in the Print dialog to "simplify page".
Maybe you could try that.

It says it is in the print dialog when you use print preview. I don't
see it. Any ideas or corrections to my attempt?

BTW. I was experimenting and tried the "full page" option in one of the
menus/ DON'T! I ended up with Google on a full page with no way to
escape. I finally rebooted the system.

TIA

What version of Firefox is this ?

Printing has a messed up history in Firefox, and
more than one printing subsystem has been used
over the years.

I think for WinXP, that 52ESR is the most modern
available.

Ken,

BTW. I was experimenting and tried the "full page" option in one of
the menus/ DON'T! I ended up with Google on a full page with no
way to escape. I finally rebooted the system.

(assuming FF v52 ESR)

Next to that option it mentions the key to enter, /but also exit/ that mode
: F11

Also, when I move my mouse to the top the FF TAB and URL bar appears -
including the "minimize" and "maximize" (and close) buttons at the right.
Clicking the "maximize" than escapes the fullscreen mode.

As for rebooting ? What about ALT-F4 (close current active program), or
even the taskmanager (under CTRL-ALT-DEL) ? :-)

Regards,
Rudy Wieser

I found the problem Total stupidity on my part. Somehow some used
printer paper got mixed in with my new paper. Some of this got added to
the printer paper tray - printside down so it wasn't noticed. If it had
been put in printed side up it would have worked ok.

Now printer works normally. The added text on the pages was just the
paper's previous content. sigh I apologize for putting in this paper
and not realizing the cause of my problem.

Even if I was standing in front of the system, I would
have missed that.

I do that sometimes for proof prints, flip the paper,
as proof prints are a waste. But I usually load those
on a print job basis (four sheet print, put four
used ones on top).

Great respect to you for admitting it! Easily done.
