What is Kingupdater and do I want it?

An installer showed up for no reason afaict, and there is very little
about it on the web.

Well, I used Everything to find kingupdater, and I thought
kingupdater.1st was really .txt, so I clicked on it. It only took me to
the program directory where contained an icon file, and under Type it
said Irfanview ICO file.

So Kingupdater appears to update irfanview! Or maybe not.

Because there is a Manual subdirectory, with two pdf files with very
similar names and the one I looked at is an owners manual for a Centech
OBD II scan tool, for reading error codes from a car. And I did dl
that, or maybe it was on the CD that came with it. (The device didn't
work however and I returned it.)


(There's also an entry in my start menu it says, in a CenTech directory.
and there is one for kingupdater.)

So, what else is under the CenTech folder? That might indicate what
software you, someone else, or bundleware installed that included their
updater client.

So your Cen-tech OBDII scanner software bundle, included
a KingUpdater, whatever that is.

That should have nothing to do with IrfanView.

Any software that "gets loose" on your computer, could
be updating unrelated folders or files.

column for the 'Name' .ico will probably list IrfanView.

I'm sure Paul will have a command-line command handy to verify this.

I bought next. If it's the one I returned, t here's no point in

My dad has a MS Office clone called "King Office." It's a Chinese
product. I think it had an updater.
