Printer only sends faxes instead of printing
Recently bought a Canon TR7550 and it's been working fine up until now. It refuses to print anything and states 'Sending fax...' whenever I try to print. Even just a test page from Windows 10 Settings. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot? I can't see anything in any of the "Properties" panels. Tried power cycling the PC and printer with no joy. It is connected by USB to a desktop PC. |

It may or may not help but worth a try. Rene |

" It's possible you printed to FAX at some point, and that setting has decided that everything go out through that spigot. You don't really want Windows to manage your Default Printer setting. Setting the Default printer yourself after that, might return output to paper. Disabling Windows Fax and Scan from Control Panels : Programs and Features : Windows Features would be an overkill. But if all else fails, you could look into ripping out that subsystem to make it more difficult to FAX. https://i.postimg.cc/ncSLpj23/fax-and-scan.gif Paul |

That did it. Reminds me of the bad old days of windows. Why can't something stay installed and working? A couple of reasons. Windows Update has a setting that allows Microsoft to update drivers. It could be a driver update, even for a seemingly unrelated driver, which upsets something else. You can turn that function off. ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate Device Installation Settings === before 1903, Cortana can find this... The other opportunity, is the migration logic during a Windows version upgrade. That's essentially reinstalling the printing stuff, with some random outcome. Paul |
