Default move hard drive to another computer?

Hi All,

This is have never done on Windows 10.

Can I take a hard drive from an AMD based computer
running Windows 10 and place it into new Intel based
hardware?

I specialized on doing this with Windows XP. I have
heard things have gotten a lot better with this in
the Windows world.

Any words of wisdom?

Go and hire a technician who knows how Windows 10 works. You are a
rogue trader who should be exposed at any opportunity on these newsgroups.

Piece of cake with Linux.

Then use Linux whatever it may be. Don't waste our time here.

What license key will it be using ?

The hard drive transfer could work, but why would
it be activated ?

I think I would want to bring it up in Safe Mode,
in case the MSAHCI driver doesn't happen to be enough
for the job. The OS can automatically find all drivers,
but the ability to boot may require at least the
one disk driver be the same.

It's possible Safe Mode is preferred now, over trying
to figure out how driver re-arming works.

Don't know. Probably W10 professional. He cost
os W10 is minor. It is the intellectual properly
he is after

Oh ya. The drivers will be different. Does W10
not load them both?

Wonder if they can be loaded in safe mode?

Then again, w10 is a pin in the butt to load safe mode.

If he is just after the intellectual property, ie data, then it may be
easier to put the old drive into a USB enclosure, attach it to the new
computer and download the data to the new computer's hard drive.

ONE Question: Who owns the intellectual properly?

Judge your ancestors by how well they met their standards not yours.
They did not know your standards, so could not try to meet them.

If it was that easy. He has some unique database software
and other similar stuff he has used for years. Its needs
to come back 100%, including the registry, sql
servers, and system dll junk.

I saw is knees go weak when I mentioned he was really running
an underpowered and old computer for what he was doing.

ONE Question:Â* Who owns the intellectual properly?

He does. All the software is licensed, but he
has no idea what he did with the licenses and if
the older version are even still available or if
the older data will even port tot he new versions.

I find customer's throwing that kind of stuff away
ALL THE TIME, including the licenses I sell them.
(I keep a copy of all of them as I learned from
experience. Keep their wifeless key too [with permission]
as they always forget them too.)

I know the software is licensed as it downloads data
from the software company's web site.

Practice before the transfer.

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/...dows-10-a.html

I have that black screen loaded on a couple installs.

Note, that it won't stop on that screen, for certain
dual boot setups. In terms of assurance it will work,
stick with single-OS-boot. I tried it on my dual-OS
Insider, and it won't put up the black screen for that
case.

Set it up now, before moving the disk, press F8 when
prompted by the black screen, note that it boots into
Safe Mode and so on.

You would probably want to disable Fast Boot or anything
that smacks of Hibernation, to again, ensure it shows up.

Once you've achieved success on your mission, you
can change the timer constant from 30 seconds there,
so it doesn't become a constant irritation during
unattended boot. If the owner knows it is there, then
a 5 to 10 second constant may be sufficient. You'll notice
in the pictures, there's a "timeout... 30" type entry.
