Show desktop icon missing or deleted from the taskbar.
The show desktop icon is missing from the quick launch area of my taskbar.
How can I create a new shorcut that will show the desktop not just take me to a folder with the contents of the desktop. |

Create a text file in Notepad as follows: [Shell] Command=2 IconFile=explorer.exe,3 [Taskbar] Command=ToggleDesktop Save it as Show Desktop.scf then drag it to the Quick launch bar. Or just click on this link: Restore/Add Show Desktop to Quick Launch (Line 61) http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm Also note that you can do this with a keyboard shortcut: the combination of the Windows key + D or the Windows key + M. As an aside, note that the Quick Launch Toolbar is just that--a toolbar, not an area of the Task Bar. Although by default it appears *on* the Task Bar, it is not actually part of the Task Bar itself, and any or all toolbars can be dragged off the Task Bar and docked elsewhere on the screen. I particularly like the configuration with the Task Bar at the bottom of the screen and the Quick Launch bar at the left side. -- Ken Blake - Microsoft MVP Windows: Shell/User Please reply to the newsgroup |

Open Notepad, 2. Copy/Paste following lines in it : [Shell] Command=2 IconFile=explorer.exe,3 [Taskbar] Command=ToggleDesktop 3. Click File, Save as.. 4. Copy/Paste the following line in File name box : %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\Show Desktop.scf 5. Click OK |

Show desktop icon missing or deleted from the taskbar.
I've tried both of the techniques described, and no icon for "show desktop"
shows up on the desktop. In both cases the computer tells me these files already exist. But if they exist, why aren't they on my desktop? -- Rich G "Ayush" "ayushmaan.j[aatt]gmail.com" wrote: Replied to [coolguy]s message : The show desktop icon is missing from the quick launch area of my taskbar. Show desktop icon missing or deleted from the taskbar.
I was facing the same problem some days ago. Recently one of my friend referred me to the website and i got a really nice solution.
You can try this: Go to Start and choose Run. Type in "regsvr32 /n /i:U shell32.dll" and click on Enter. Restart your System. The website is www.completepcpedia.com. :-) :-) On Tuesday, March 27, 2007 7:18 PM coolgu wrote: The show desktop icon is missing from the quick launch area of my taskbar.
