Default .net framework sp1

Each time I visit Windows Update I am prompted to install .net framework
1.1. I t downloads and installs properly. The next visit to Windows update,
there is another prompt to install .net framework1.1 sp1. I tried it again,
all signs indicate a successful install. But at the next visit to Windows
Update another prompt to install .net framework is in the priority updates
list.

I recently updated .net 3.5 sp1. In the list is .net 1.1 sp1. Why doesn't
Windows update see that my system has version 1.1 already updated with sp1?

Thank you

1. Write down the .NET Framework versions which are already installed:

How to determine which versions of the .NET Framework are installed and
whether service packs have been applied
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318785

2. Now see Resolutions Methods 1 or 2 in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100 (ignore the title). After running
the appropriate/needed tool, (re)install all .NET Framework versions
manually using the download links on the page.

Thank you... when I can make the time I'll go through this. My wife's
computer has the described behavior. My system seems to be okay.
