After two decades, Adobe will kill Flash on Dec. 31, 2020
https://blogs.adobe.com/conversation...sh-update.html
In 2004, three browser makers -- Mozilla, Apple and Opera Software -- launched a group to try to advance HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). In 2006 Adobe acquired Macromedia. In 2008 Adobe announced Adobe's effort to bring Flash to smartphones. In 2009 the last call for HTML5 comments was initiated. In 2010 Apple announced it would not allow Flash on iOS devices. In 2017, Adobe announced the end of flash will be December 31, 2020. Google will remove Flash completely from Chrome toward the end of 2020. Mozilla will disable Flash altogether in Firefox by default in 2019 with Flash support through the end of 2020 only in Firefox's less frequently updated Extended Support Release. Microsoft will disable Flash by default in 2019, and by the end of 2020, Microsoft will disable it completely in both Edge and Internet Explorer. Apple's Safari started blocking Flash from running in 2016. If you really want it, you can re-enable it on websites that offer to download Flash. Facebook games built in Flash will run until the end of 2020. https://www.cnet.com/news/adobe-kill...ser-tech-2020/ https://developers.facebook.com/blog...Web-Standards/ https://www.cnet.com/news/jobs-why-a...om-the-iphone/ https://blog.whatwg.org/html5-at-last-call |

Sometimes its updates seem to fail but today Belarc says....it doesn't mention it. https://www.cnet.com/news/adobe-kill...ser-tech-2020/ https://developers.facebook.com/blog...Web-Standards/ https://www.cnet.com/news/jobs-why-a...om-the-iphone/ https://blog.whatwg.org/html5-at-last-call |

A later notice said that the funeral will be on Friday, January 1, 2021, at 2PM at Software Memorial Gardens, San Jose, Cal. 90414 January 1st is a feast day for Catholics, but despite Flash's Mexican heritage, it is not Catholic, so that's when the funeral is. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cal Tech Department of Application Rehabilitation, or the Silicon Home for Retired Software.
