Windows MM has encountered a problem and needs to close! Error.
I posted the following message on the Movie Maker news group few days ago!
They tried very hard to help but at the end it was suggested that I reinstall WinXP to fix the problem. I just wanted to give it another try here to see if someone has had this error and maybe can help before reinstalling XP! Thanks in advance. --------------------------------- Error message starts here, When I click the Icon for windows Movie Maker in XP Pro. It opens followed by the following error, "Windows Movie Maker has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". Error signature, AppName: moviemk.exe AppVer: 2.0.3312.0 ModName: qedit.dll ModVer: 6.5.1.900 Offset: 00018c80 When I click on the "send error report", it sends the error and it automatically shuts down. I can send the error text file that is sent to Microsoft if you need me to! It is about 22 KB in size. I have Windows XP Media Center edition and 3.00 GHz P4 and 1 GB of RAM. Please help, I really need to use it ASAP. Thanks in advance! |

Windows MM has encountered a problem and needs to close! Error.
Have you installed the latest DirectX?

Start, run, type sfc /scannow, you will need your Windows disk. -- Mary Sauer MS MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://www.mvps.org/msauer/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "Sarah" wrote in message ... Windows MM has encountered a problem and needs to close! Error.
Hi Mary,
Latest DirectX is installed! Now, when trying to run sfc something flashes on the screen real quick and disappears. I did it few times and nothing happened! Can I run sfc from somewhere else or can I fix it and run it from the "Run" command? Thank you very much. "Mary Sauer" wrote in message ... Windows MM has encountered a problem and needs to close! Error.
You can't remove it! It is built in the operating system as I was told. You
can only install it on top of the current install! I did that and I still get the same error! "Buck" wrote in message ...
