How do I get windows explorer to open with the contents of
the c: drive already expanded to show its folders as the
default, instead of a compressed view of the contents of
the computer?

Thanks

Right click the shortcut to Windows Explorer and type the following in the
Target line.

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,c:

(space between / and e,)

Apply/OK.
