record it onto the tape. then play it back with it WRITTEN into the magnetic
strip. record from there. Other wise, there is no way (I can think of
) to do it.

Wow, sounds like a tedious 3 steps process :
[1] DV to VCR
[2] VCR to DV
[3] DV to PC

anyone with a quicker way ?
