LCD vs Default Monitor
I have WinXP Home on an IBM NetVista all-in-one computer, with an LCD
screen. Direct3D animations are flickering badly (not the whole screen -- just the animation), and I'm looking for adjustments I can make. One thing I've noticed is that XP is using the "Default Monitor", and I'm trying to see if there's a way I can tell it I'm using an LCD. I'm not as familiar with XP as I am with 98 -- is there a way to remove the Default Monitor and replace it with something else? (To expand upon the problem... I can see the flicker when I run the DirectX diagnostic program, in the Direct3D test. The animated box with X logo is there, but the image flickers and tears. I'm thinking it might be a scan rate issue, which is why I'm thinking about the monitor type.) Gerry |

LCD vs Default Monitor
The default monitor is your LCD display.. the Netvista can run a second
monitor.. The graphics card used to be a SIS 630 or something like that.. they can be problematic.. ensure that you have exactly the correct driver installed.. the IBM website should have it.. I think that it also has to be set to 1024x768 for optimum quality.. "Gerry Wheeler" wrote in message ... I have WinXP Home on an IBM NetVista all-in-one computer, with an LCD screen. LCD vs Default Monitor
Yes, I should check the IBM site to see if they have something newer than
XP's default driver. Good idea. The reason I questioned the "default monitor" is that I recall (in Win98) that "default" means "unknown", and performance can usually be improved just by specifying the monitor make and model. On various laptop computers I've set the monitor to "Generic LCD 1024x768" or something similar, so I was thinking the same might be possible here.
