Default avitompeg?

well, ive been using windows movie maker for xp a while
now. and ive been trying to put my home videos that i
have saved on windows movie maker on a cd. i found out
how to do that and now i want to put that file into a vcd
format so i can play it on a dvd player. ive downloaded
many programs that were SUPPOSED to have worked with the
avi format but when i actually spent the two and a half
hours of download, it turns out to only support mpeg
format. So, i tried downloading an mpeg encoder and it
doesnt seem to play or even work. What i want to find out
is how to put my avi files into a vcd or is there a way
where i can turn my avi files into an mpeg format? if
there is anyone who knows please help!

Use TMPGenc, it is one of the best encoders available and it's free! the
link I am providing will bring you to a guide that will walk you thru the
process, complete with pictures

You will also need Virtualdub and it recommends VcdEasy to burn, which I
use, but you can also use Nero.
