Default MM2 - importing mpeg produces only audio

Love this little program (Movie Maker 2) as the higher-end
packages have always intimidated me with a steep learning
curve.

Problem: I've created a few MPEG2 videos using TMPEnc that
play just great on MP9 but are recognized by MM2 as only
audio. Any ideas?

Can you use the source files that you used for the MPEG2 videos as the
inputs to MM2 instead of the MPEG2 files? Or make MPEG1 files instead.

Seems that MPEG2 files would need the extra MEG2 codec that isn't free and
included with MM2. I remember it being a purchased additional item from some
third party, but I didn't obtain it myself and don't have a pointer to it.
