downloaded avi...audio but no video

I downloaded an avi file and got audio, no video. Found
out I needed a codec file (something like that) but which
one? There are ALOT!! I have Windows media player. I
downloaded gspot utility and it told me that I needed
div3 & div4 in order to play file. Where do I get that
and do I really need it?

I'm a virgin on this one so be gentle with the help!!
