Slow browser after downloading shareware and playing video

DO NOT USE Kazaa. Find KazaaLite. It's the same thing
without adware. Use either Ad-Adware6 or Spybot Search &
Destroy to get rid of crap on your computer.

The file would not open automatically and prompted me in
a menu stating, "which program would you like to use to
open this file?"

I selected Windows Media Player. However, the box that
can be checked to always have Windows Media Player play
the video was not accessible. It was checked, but
blocked
so that I could not select or change it.

Since that time, my IE browser is much slower then usual
when I surf the web.

Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing this problem?
