Default Can't play dvds

I get the same error message (Error ID = 0xC00D116A,
Remedy ID = 0x00000000), but I haven't changed hardware.
ATI, Windows Media, and PowerDVD used to work, but no
longer. I tried system restore, but it couldn't
complete. The only new software I installed was
ScanSoft, and I removed it. The Microsoft web site says
there's no known solution.

Can anyone help? Please!

I get the following error when I try to play a dvd using
media player 9. Error ID = 0xC00D116A, Condition ID =
0x00000000. I use to be able to play dvds but I had to
install a new mother board and reformat the hard drive
along with reinstalling XP. I have a Pentium 1ghz

Celeron
processor, 250 megs of ram. I use an ATI Radeon 7000
video card. I have been out to ATI and have got the
newest drivers. I also reinstalled the ATI desktop
display with DVD payer software that originally came

with
the card. I can not use the AtI dvd player as I get an
error telling me either I have no sound card connected,
or some other program is using the overlays or I don't
have enough memory. I can eliminate the memory and sound
card problem but I don't know anything about the overlay
problem. Can anyone point me in the right direction. If
you could email me with suggestions I would appreciate
it. Thanks! Dennis

I use Media Player 2 and I've never had a problem. Sounds to me like you
have a driver conflict somewhere. If it worked before and it doesn't now,
something changed. Check the PowerDVD website and see if they have a fix.
For the short time I've been on this NG I see many posts from numerous
people having trouble with video who are using WMP 9. Like I said, I use MP2
from back in the day and I've never had any problems playing any video no
matter the codec and I have several different types of players, but I don't
have WMP 8 or 9.

Try uninstalling WMP 9.
