Screen Resolution

Is there a way to change the resolution so that the things
displayed on the screen are smaller - and you can fit more
onto the screen, like we could in 98? I have done it, but
what happens is that the screen scrolls when u move the
mouse around - so you cannot see the whole screen at any
one time!!

Anyone got any smart ideas??
